Small Space Living : Urban Walls Decals
Living in a small space can leave me feeling a little challenged when I want to change it up simply because it’s difficult to move furniture around (there just isn’t anywhere else to put it); so when I stumbled upon Urban Walls I was honestly thrilled at the idea of switching it up without moving or painting anything! Urban Walls is a local company here in Vancouver, they create incredible wall decals (everything from polkadots to swans!), and all you have to do is stick them to your walls!
I had been wanting to buy some for quite some time, but I couldn’t decide on a design, then as I was scrolling through instagram I noticed Monika Hibbs doing a collab with Urban walls using the Grey Scale Floral design (which you can check out here) and I was hooked. Those were the ones!
That brings me to now! I did a half order of the Grey Scale Flowers seeing as I don’t have a ton of space to actually put them.
I started off by mapping them out on my wall with painters tape, from there I decided to cut one of the larger decals in half (this seemed a little scary…but I checked and its totally ok!) I wrapped one into part of the window frame, and then placed the other one at the ceiling. My set also came with two smaller decals which I decided to layer to create a fuller effect.
The actual application process was slightly more difficult than I imagined just because of the size of the decals (and cats.. little trouble makers), but luckily my husband was happy to help!
Once we had them mapped out we began the scary part – sticking them to the wall! You just peel off the back paper and you’re left with the decal + contact paper which you stick onto the wall. After rubbing them a bit we peeled the paper off, and then it’s done!!
I think this is such a great way to change up a space, it only took about an hour including mapping them all out and if we decide we want another change we just peel them off! Urban walls claims that they won’t ruin the paint underneath at all which is awesome!
You can find these decals on the Urban Walls website here!
